I love food, and I love blogs. It would stand to reason that I also love food blogs. This is a list of my favorite food blogs.
Food Porn Watch: Sorry, sicko food fetishists: despite the saucy name, this is a food blog aggregator that I look at from time to time to find new blogs to read.
Farmgirl Fare: Quite sadly my only experiences with rural life are through Hemingway novels and two viewings of Deliverance; luckily, I found a wonderful blog that I read regularly to make up for my lack of pastoral knowledge. Farmgirl Susan, as she calls herself, blogs about her life on a “280-acre farm in the middle of nowhere,” and always has beautiful photos of food and farm life.
Family Food: CityMama, as she’s known, not only posts recipes and links to food-related articles, but offers insights into her family life that satisfies the voyeur in me.
Ono Kine Grindz: This is the very first blog that I read regularly - I happened to be searching for a review on a restaurant one day before a date and found this Hawai’i-based website. Three hours later, I was shocked to discover that I had read almost every one of his posts and, oops, I had stood up my girlfriend.
ma’ona: After reading through the bulk of the posts on Ono Kine Grindz, I needed more. I was a starved addict, craving for the gentle caress of a locally-run food blog. I found it in ma’ona. Thank you, Alan, for your gentle caress. (Even if you don’t live in Hawai’i, check out his food photography. It’s booootiful!)
Cheap Places to Eat in Oahu, Hawai’i: Food bloggers don’t swear often, I’ve found, which is a sad thing for me, because as an English major I’ve come to appreciate (and often use) the harsh, semiotic music of profanity. This blogger swears. While reviewing restaurants. It’s beautiful.
Adventures in Bentomaking: “Aww, cute!” the wife exclaimed, pointing at a dog-shaped onigiri. She wasn’t pointing at some random stranger’s burping baby this time, so I nodded.
Energy Fiend: Obsessed with Caffeine: I love caffeine. Every morning before my first class, I load up on it. Monster Energy, Red Bull, NOS… I love it all. I often sit at my computer and write into the wee hours of the morning, and I couldn’t do it without my caffeine. This blogger loves it more than I do, however. Check it out.
Tigers & Strawberries: She writes often, and she writes well. This is perhaps my favorite blog on this list, though it would be a misnomer to label Tigers & Strawberries as just a food blog. Her writings are not only recipes, they often delve into her spiritual and political outlooks on food - a sort of foodism, if you will.

It is hard to pick favorites, there are so many good ones. I like Family Food also. Some of my regular stops are 101 Cookbooks, Cookthink, Simply Recipes for great recipes, Gluten Free Girl for writing, and Lucullian Delights for photos. I have the foodie blogroll link on my site which provides a link to several other blogs. I’m glad I know what to look for. It gets quite boring staring at this screen all day but, I found your perspective very informative. Might I ask what other Discreet products you use or plan to use?
