Cheap Seafood Recipes
Sometimes fish seems like a luxury that cannot be afforded, but that does not mean that there are no cheap seafood recipes to take advantage of. One such cheap food recipe is seafood lasagna, made with eight cooked lasagna noodles; 2 teaspoons of butter; 1 cup of onions; cream cheese one and a half cups of creamed cottage cheese; 1 egg beaten; 2 teaspoons of basil; salt and pepper to taste; 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup; 1/3 cup of milk; 1/3 cup of white wine; half a pound of crab; half a pound of shrimp; 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese; half a cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Saute the onions and add them to the cream cheese, cottage cheese, egg, basil and salt and pepper. Spread half of this blend on half the noodles. Mix soup, milk, wine and stir in seafood. Spoon half of this mixture on top of previous mixture. Repeat these layers and sprinkle with Parmesan and cheddar cheese. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes at 350 F. Brown under broiler for a few minutes. Let stand 15 minutes or so before serving this cheap seafood recipe.Another fun and cheap seafood recipe is seafood nachos. The ingredients are 30 baked tortilla chips; 8 oz of imitation chopped crabmeat; half a cup of reduced-fat sour cream; half a cup of reduced fat mayonnaise; twp tablespoons of finely chopped onion; half a teaspoon of dill weed; 4 oz. of shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese;
half a cup of sliced ripe olives and 1/4 teaspoon of paprika. Arrange the tortilla chips in a single layer on an ungreased baking sheet. Combine the crab, sour cream, mayonnaise, onion and dill in a bowl. Pour about 1 tablespoon onto each chip. Sprinkle with the cheese, olives and paprika. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes or until the cheese is melted, and then serve. Guests are bound to enjoy this cheap seafood meal.
